All fees for equipment and practice facilities as well as travel costs to competitions and meals & lodging when necessary for the High Desert Program are raised locally by volunteers and ordinary people just like you. There is no cost to the athletes for participation in Special Olympics.

Get Moving

Researchers have studied the effects of physical activity and the evidence is clear.

How Much is Enough?

The Surgeon General recommends 30 minutes or more, at least 5 days a week.  The good news?  If you are pressed for time, you can divide your daily time into three 10 minute intervals, and enjoy the same great results.

Physical Activity Can Help You:

· Age better

· Control weight

· Chase away the blues

· Lower blood pressure

· Increase energy

· Decrease the risk of heart disease

· Keep your mind sharp

It Doesn’t Have to be Dull or Painful.

Vigorous exercise is great, but so are less strenuous activities.  You can accumulate your 30 minutes by taking the stairs instead of elevator, walking during part of your lunch break or working in the garden.
