OPEN LETTER TO ANYONE INTERESTED IN
SOOR LINN COUNTY!
First I wish to thank the people who found the time to show up for yesterdays meeting!
For those who were not there the following is what was decided!
Basketball will continue on for this season. This is due to some great people stepping up
to the plate when they were most needed (Gary Horn, Candice Lovejoy, Sue Stewart and
George Thomas). So if you happen to see any of these folks be sure to say thank-you!
All February’s scheduled activities have been cancelled! All future activities will be dependent
on having enough volunteers signed up before the activity! (We will have more on how you
sign up for activities in a few days!) WE DID NOT WANT TO SEE THIS HAPPEN AND
HOPE IT WILL BE ONLY A TEMPORARY PAUSE IN OUR SCHEDULE OF ACTIVITIES!
WE HOPE THAT OTHERS VALUE THESE ACTIVITIES AS MUCH AS THE PEOPLE WE
SERVE DO!
SPRING SPORTS
All sports (Softball, Track, Bocce) will be dependent on the number of coaches we have signed up
(prior) to the start of the season! Up until now we have tried to serve everyone who wished to participate.
If we have enough coaches this will continue. If we do not we will need to limit the number of athletes
who may participate. This will be tough, but the alternative is to have no one participate.
ALL SPORTS BEYOND SPRING SPORTS WILL BE HANDLED USING THE SAME METHOD!
We will continue in our effort to recruit more activity volunteers/coaches and more information on
who to contact will follow in the next few days!
If you have any questions or comments please feel free to e-mail Gloria at gloriaj@wvrc.org or myself
at mrdddon@wvi.com we welcome your input. If you have a group or know individuals who may like
to volunteer, please send us their contact information and we will be happy to make contact. We have a
new Volunteer Manager, but it will take her a while to get up to speed with the program and be in a
position to take over those duties. But we wish to thank her in advance! Her name is Luella Mosley and
she has been active in Special Olympics for a number of years. Both as a volunteer and a parent of a athlete!

WE WANT A YOUTH PROGRAM!

8 years-old or over and would like more information about how they can
