  COACHES’ CORNER

Attention Head Coaches!

To ensure the highest quality coaching for our athletes, becoming certified in your sport should be the goal of all coaches.

Also, if you haven’t done so, you will need to go to the SOOR website and take the General Orientation and Protective Behaviors online course.  SOI is now requiring both these certifications in order to volunteer with Special Olympics as any type of coach.  Please take 30 minutes out of your day to do this so you can continue to coach. Go to www.soor.org scroll down on the right side of the site and click on “General Orientation & quiz”. Complete this segment and submit. Then take the “Protective Behaviors & quiz portion and submit.

Please take these quizzes before the start of winter season.  Thank you.

How to Sign up: Athlete Initial Signup Procedure

Your athlete will need to visit his/her doctor to get a Special Olympics medical form signed. Once the signed medical has been returned, your athlete will be on the mailing list and will receive registration information for upcoming seasons as well as the newsletter about other activities happening in the area.

Youth Programs

The Eugene/Springfield area program is looking to recruit new athletes in the 8-21 year age range. We want to expand the opportunities for this age group and allow them to experience all that Special Olympics has to offer. There is no cost to the athletes or their families to participate.  All you as a parent/care-provider/guardian need to do is get your athlete to practices.
