Financial Support
Special Olympics Oregon works to provide year-round training and competition opportunities for individuals with intellectual disabilities. Those opportunities are provided at no cost to the athletes or their families.
The organization receives funds to support its mission through a variety of avenues including; private donations, corporate sponsorship, fundraising through special events and foundation grants directed specifically for special projects. Unified Champion Schools and athlete health initiatives are two examples of programs that are funded by grants. Special Olympics Oregon does not receive any direct government funding and does not receive funds from the Kennedy Foundation.
While Special Olympics Oregon is a nonprofit 501(c)(3), to provide its programming the organization incurs expenses for the infrastructure and resources to run events. Some of those expenses include:
